The Faraway Jumper is inspired by Fair Isle knitting and festive holiday jumpers, and features a striking circular yoke, which is worked in the round.
Suitable for Intermediate crocheters, it uses 4 colours, a 4mm hook, DK yarn, and a simple combination of Granny and spike stitch. It is available in both UK and US crochet terminology and comes in 8 sizes, from XS to 4XL.
Thinner, lighter DK yarns are best for this project, to give it plenty of drape. I have used Scheepjes Colour Crafter, but Stylecraft Special DK, James C Brett Knitting with Merino, or similar are good alternatives. I have also used Viking of Norway Alpaca Storm yarn for a snuggly Alpaca version for those colder days.
Worked from the top down, there are charts, diagrams and photo tutorials to help you along the way. You will need to know how to do a UK Double crochet chainless foundation for the start.
There are 7 video tutorials to help you with this pattern here and on my YouTube Channel.
This jumper is fairly cropped, so remember to add a bit more yarn if you wish to extend the length.
If you love this stitch combo, but want to try a simpler project first, there is also a Faraway cowl and Faraway hat pattern available.
